About this design

Version 2 of my ? Block game case for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 game cards. It keeps the same 50mm cube and slot layout as v1, with upgrades to the lid, the slots and the inlays.
Holds
- 8 game cards: 6 side by side plus 2 rotated
- 3 microSD cards (microSD Express size works too)
What's new in v2
- Press-fit lid with a snap bead: the lid plug has a small bead on all four sides that clicks into a groove in the case rim, so the lid stays on.
- Card grip ribs: a small rib in each game slot to help hold cards. Card thickness varies, so a rib test coupon is included.
- Finger grooves to lift cards out, and chamfered slot openings for easy insertion.
- Separate "?" inlays (4 per case) that press-fit into tapered pockets. Print them in white for a two-color look without a multi-material printer, no glue needed.
- Chamfered edges instead of fillets. The bottom chamfer also handles elephant's foot.
- Prints without supports.
- Test coupons included, so you can check the rim and lid fit and the card rib grip before printing the full case.
Size and material
- 50mm cube when assembled
- About 118g of PETG for a full set (case 101.7g, lid 10.0g, 4 inlays 6.4g), from CAD at 100% solid. Actual use depends on your slicer settings.
Free for personal, non-commercial use under CC BY-NC. Please don't sell the files or the prints.
Print notes
- Material: PETG. Case and lid in yellow or orange, inlays in white. - Layer height: 0.2mm (0.16mm for the lid and inlays for a crisper bead and edges) - Walls: 3 perimeters - Infill: 15 to 20% - Supports: none - Orientation: use the files in the print folder, which are already oriented: case bottom down, lid top face down, inlays visible face down. - Inlays: these have no elephant's foot chamfer on the visible edge. Use first-layer elephant's foot compensation or lightly sand. - Before the full case, print the coupons: - Rim and lid coupons: check the snap bead fit. The lid has 0.20mm clearance per side with a 0.25mm bead. - Rib coupon: check that your game cards are held. The rib grips cards about 3.3mm thick at the label. If cards are loose, the rib needs to be taller.
