About this design

Three small cars for the 1:64 swappable-body chassis, inspired by classic 70s and 80s European sport cars. Each body is one piece and pushes onto the chassis posts, so you can swap bodies on one chassis or build one chassis per car.

  • Hot Hatch: a boxy 70s hot hatch with a square nose, a flat grille and a short tail. About 69.8 x 31.8 x 25.2 mm on the chassis.
  • Box-Flare Sedan: an 80s touring sedan with boxy flared arches and a rear wing. About 73.8 x 31.8 x 23.8 mm.
  • Flat-Six Coupe: an 80s rear-engine sports coupe with round lamps, a sloping roof and a tail spoiler. About 81.2 x 31.7 x 24.3 mm.

Each car is its own download with the body, the standard chassis (44 mm wheelbase), classic 5-spoke wheels (11 mm front, 12 mm rear), the play shim and optional two-colour wheel parts. These are the same chassis and wheel files as the R1 Roadster kit and the Garage Starter Trio, so a chassis you already printed fits every body here.

Printing: PLA on a 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.12 mm layers, 3 walls, 15% infill, no supports. Bodies print upright, rim down, as supplied. Slicer estimates for the bodies: about 14.7 to 15.0 g and about 2 hours each.

You supply two standard paperclips per car for the axles. An adult straightens, cuts and files the wire and drills the axle holes with a 1.2 mm pin vise drill; the README in each download walks through it.

CAD-checked, not print-tested: fit on the chassis, wall thickness and print estimates are CAD and slicer values. The fine panel lines are 0.2 mm wide and may soften on some printers.

The lengths follow each car's true 1:64 scale, so the Flat-Six Coupe runs longer than the Hot Hatch.

The bodies are single-colour prints. The glass, lamps and black trim in the renders are painted. The red renders and the rear views show the cars on turbofan wheels from the separate Wheel Pack 1:64, which is not included; the white renders show the included classic 5-spoke wheels.

For ages 8 and up once built. Small parts: not for children under 3.
