About this design
Three small cars for the 1:64 swappable-body chassis, inspired by classic 80s/90s Japanese sport compacts, plus a bonus hardtop version of the roadster. Each body is one piece and pushes onto the chassis posts, so you can swap bodies on one chassis or build one chassis per car.
- Hatch Coupe: a short two-seat hatch with a chopped tail. About 72.7 x 31.8 x 24.3 mm on the chassis.
- Pop-Up Coupe: a wedge-shaped hatch coupe with pop-up lamps. About 76.9 x 31.8 x 24.6 mm.
- Pocket Roadster: a small open two-seater. About 77.1 x 32.0 x 21.7 mm.
- Bonus: Pocket Roadster Hardtop, the same car with a fixed roof. About 77.1 x 32.0 x 22.3 mm.
Each car is its own download with the body, the two-tone files, the standard chassis (44 mm wheelbase), classic 5-spoke wheels (11 mm front, 12 mm rear), the play shim and optional two-colour wheel parts. These are the same chassis and wheel files as the free R1 Roadster kit, so a chassis you already printed fits every body here.
Printing: PLA on a 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.12 mm layers, 3 walls, 15% infill, no supports. Bodies print upright, rim down, as supplied. Slicer estimates for the bodies: about 13.5 to 15.5 g and about 2 hours each.
Two-tone is optional. The Hatch Coupe and Pop-Up Coupe do it on a single-extruder printer with filament changes at set heights (listed in each README). The roadster's dark cockpit and the hardtop's dark glass need a multi-material printer.
You supply two standard paperclips per car for the axles. An adult straightens, cuts and files the wire and drills the axle holes with a 1.2 mm pin vise drill; the README in each download walks through it.
CAD-checked, not print-tested: fit on the chassis, wall thickness and print estimates are CAD and slicer values.
The lengths follow each car's true 1:64 scale, so the Pop-Up Coupe and both roadsters run a little longer than the Hatch Coupe.
The glass, lamps and black slots in the renders are two-tone or painted; a single-colour print comes out in one colour.

Optional: all four cars can also run on real metal axles with the free Metal Axle Conversion 1:64 and a 1:64 replacement axle kit with 0.98 in shafts; paperclip and metal-axle parts don't mix.

Two-tone by filament change: start dark, change after about 3.16, 6.04 and 6.88 mm above the bed. - Pop-Up Coupe body: 15.51 g, about 2 h 13 min.
