About this design

A two-piece PETG case for the Raspberry Pi 5. It's built to hold the full Raspberry Pi AI kit: AI HAT+ and Active Cooler stacked inside, with the Raspberry Pi AI Camera mounted in the lid. Plain low-profile versions are included for a bare Pi 5.

Designed in SolidCraft from the official Raspberry Pi mechanical drawings and product briefs (Raspberry Pi 5, AI HAT+, AI Camera, Active Cooler).

Comments on fit are welcome.

Cases for other Raspberry Pi boards and configurations are planned, including Pi 4, Pi 3B and Pi Zero. Full list below.

v2: AI Camera case (base + lid)

  • Outer footprint: 91 x 62mm with 4mm rounded corners. 2mm walls and floor.
  • Base is 40mm tall, with room for the AI HAT+ on its stacking header above the Active Cooler.
  • The slip-fit lid has a 4mm deep lip with 0.2mm clearance per side, so it press-fits without screws. Assembled height is 42mm.
  • The lid has 4 M2 bosses on a 21 x 12.5mm pattern for the AI Camera, a 6.5mm lens opening, and 2 ribbon cable guide ribs.
  • 5 vent slots in the lid over the AI HAT+ accelerator, plus 7 floor vent slots.
  • Port openings: USB-C and 2 micro HDMI on the front, Ethernet and USB-A on the rear, and microSD on the left side.
  • 4 board standoffs on the Pi 5 mounting pattern (58 x 49mm), with 2.2mm pilot holes.
  • "Pi 5" is engraved in the floor.

v1: plain cases (no lid)

  • Same 91 x 62mm footprint, ports, standoffs, floor vents and engraving as v2.
  • Two heights: 24mm (bare board) and 32mm (extra clearance).

Approximate PETG mass (from CAD at 1.27 g/cm3, 100% solid; actual filament use depends on your settings):

  • v2 base: 39.2g
  • v2 lid: 16.4g
  • v1 24mm: 27.3g
  • v1 32mm: 33.2g

Notes:

  • Raspberry Pi recommends keeping the case uncovered and in a well ventilated spot when using the Active Cooler or AI HAT+.
  • STEP files are included if you want to modify the design.

Planned for the full set

This Pi 5 case is the first in a planned family of Raspberry Pi cases, all modeled from the official Raspberry Pi mechanical drawings. Planned boards and configurations are below. No release dates yet; each will be added as it's designed and test printed.

Boards:

  • Raspberry Pi 5
  • Raspberry Pi 4 Model B
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and 3 Model B+
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+
  • Raspberry Pi Zero, Zero W and Zero 2 W
  • Raspberry Pi 400 accessories (stand and wall mount)

Configurations (where the board supports them):

  • Plain cases in low profile and tall versions
  • Fan and heatsink versions, including the official Raspberry Pi 5 Active Cooler
  • PoE / PoE+ HAT clearance (Pi 3B+, Pi 4B and Pi 5)
  • NVMe M.2 HAT+ clearance (Pi 5)
  • AI HAT+ and AI Kit clearance (Pi 5)
  • Camera lids for Camera Module 3 and the AI Camera
  • Sense HAT and generic HAT stack cases
  • Official 7 inch Touch Display enclosure
  • DIN rail, VESA and wall mount adapters
  • Multi-board cluster stack

Print notes

- Material: PETG - Layer height: 0.2mm (0.16mm for a cleaner lid lip and engraving) - Infill: 20 to 25% gyroid, 3 walls (perimeters) - Supports: none planned. Print the base upright (floor down) and the lid upside down (top plate on the bed, lip pointing up). If your slicer flags the port openings or the lens hole, use supports touching the build plate only. - Fit: the lid uses 0.2mm per side clearance. If it's too tight, check that elephant's foot compensation is on or lower the flow slightly. - Hardware: 4 small screws for the Pi standoffs (2.2mm pilot holes) and 4 M2 screws for the AI Camera. Check the length against your stack.
